Ethics is a slippery owl squatting on the doorknob
When it comes to what’s good and what’s bad…
And to universal guidelines for those
Who can choose their behavior.
Really Slickery Stuff.
Protecting the doorknob from the owl…
Reducing the ethical slippery-ness…
Requires one heck of a Cosmic Principle.
With over seven billion totally different humans
Swarming over the Earth,
Anything Cosmic has to be common to all,
Both SEEN and UNSEEN.
“ENERGY” seems to fit everyone across the board,
From Micro to Macro.
Light. Sound. Movement. Heat. Cold. Magnetic.
Electric, Nuclear, and Scalar.
Energy in any form,
Frequency, degree, spectrum, speed, density, or decibel,
Constitutes Life.
“Life,” then, becomes the vast common Cosmic Principle
That saves us from a slippery ethical doorknob.
Right and Wrong, Good and Bad, and all judgments in between,
Must be made in the name of everything living, including the Earth.
Which means, for words, actions, thoughts, or emotions,
To qualify as ethical,
They must benefit everything alive.
Might as well say the “Greatest Good” for all is “Abundant Life”
And just be done with it.
Except, there are billions of attitudes with several Opinions each, About how the “greatest good” and “Abundant Life” SHOULD be defined.
